The 'Portrait/Lighting' project was a series of photos composed for the course CMDP 3700: Photographic Practices in the Media Productions major at CU Boulder.
For this project, we had freedom to do whatever we wanted as long as we took portrait photos that were manipulated by lighting. Lighting in this sense was vague, but it was supposed to be vague so that we could use all kinds of lighting, if that were flashes, natural lighting, etc.
For the project, I chose to photograph my friend Ethan at his own house. While taking these portraits I chose to focus on lighting by using flashes either on my camera or on separate stands on a timed flash. I also used a light wand flash that was able to use a multitude of colors and intensities. For the final two photos I chose to use natural lighting. Overall, I tried to manipulate lighting in many different ways to change the perception of the same space.
